'The aromatic wines of Pouilly and Sancerre are perhaps the easiest to recognise in France' - Jancis Robinson & Hugh Johnsons's World Of Wine

Choosing the Pouilly Fumé for the restaurant is one of the more challenging tasks, as it is one of the most requested. And for good reason - a good Pouilly is one of those reliable wines that takes the strain out of choosing what to drink, it is a benchmark, and because of this reliability can easily drift into the 'very expensive' end on a list.

Jean Max Roger needs no introduction as one of the premier winemakers of the Pouilly/Sancerre AOC. Growing and producing in the family since the 1600s, Jean-Max took over their then four hectrare estate in the 1970s and have taken the label to global recognition.

Says Sommelier David Havlik: "The search for the right Puilly Fumé one took us a long time but we finally decided on a wine from Jean-Max Roger, family-run estate that makes incredible wines in the village of Bué in the Loire Valley for generations and it perfectly encompasses what anyone could be looking for in a well-made precision driven Sauvignon Blanc.

Recommended for drinking within 10 years, and will improve throughout this range, our Pouilly-Fumé will reward you with pronounced floral aromas, ripe citrus and orchard fruit, gun flint minerality and refreshing acidity."
